Proudly Japanese
Thankfully, my work has allowed me to travel abroad many times until now, and I’m surprised to see Japanese Restaurants whenever I visit foreign countries.
I was sometimes surprised that California rolls were served in a high-class sushi restaurant and chilled soba noodles (buckwheat noodles) were served in a bowl, which is cooked in an incorrect manner and is not what I expected.
Even so, I must I admit I was impressed to be able to have what we usually eat and drink in a far foreign country.
I think foreigners have the feeling as if they were in a restaurant in Japan, even if they are in their country.
But, there is difference between Japan and other countries from the standpoint of hospitality.
I do not deny service provided in overseas, but you won’t be able to enjoy Japanese-style service without coming to Japan, even if you can eat Japanese food in any country.
Visiting various countries recently, I get to feel that spirit of good service and hospitality is one of what Japan can be proud of.
